Prequel
This work references true murder cases which date back to the 1980’s. The images are interrelated by the fact the crimes committed have remained unsolved to this day. Each image in the series exposes a snapshot of the final moments previous to the tragic event.
Any information regarding the way in which the stories play out - after the scene is initially set - has been suppressed from the viewer. The interpretation results wholly from the viewer's own imagination; a challenge to search for clues in an otherwise typical situation.
Each scene encourages an in depth scrutiny of both the setting and the individuals personal perception, looking for a functioning explanation to be ascribed to each episode.
With the knowledge of the subject-matter dictating the perception of the work, the imagery achieves a further level. Each illustration is separated from the mundane, eliciting an interest in the dichotomy of the conventional and the dramatic. The uncertainty of any final outcome parallels and expands upon the idea of the dramatic emerging from the every-day, to further incite an atmosphere of intrigue.
